The idea

ASU and the United States Aikido Federation have spent decades as separate houses. This seminar brings them onto the same mat.

So the coin isn't a souvenir of the weekend. The coin is the point. One object, two faces, and you can't hold one without the other.

That's also why both sides are struck identically: same relief, same lettering, same finish. Neither organization is hosting the other.
